Rebuild Limit
I compare your dwelling limit with what a rebuild would cost at current labor and material prices.
I go through a home policy with you part by part, so every limit and deductible has a clear reason behind it.
What to expect
I do not hand the same plan to everyone. I read the policy you have, or the quote you are weighing, and explain what each part would do after a loss.
By the end you know which limits protect the building, which protect what is inside it, and which questions are still worth raising with your insurer.
What I do
I compare your dwelling limit with what a rebuild would cost at current labor and material prices.
I show you how to list what you own room by room, so your belongings limit rests on real items.
I explain how much protection you have if someone is hurt on your property and whether it suits your situation.
I go over how much your policy would pay toward a place to stay if repairs keep you away from home.
I check the limit for sheds, fences and a detached garage, which sits apart from the main house limit.
I explain how a higher or lower deductible changes both your premium and what you pay after a claim.
Common gaps
Rising water from outside is usually left out of a home policy and needs its own separate cover.
Water pushed back through a drain or sump is often excluded unless you add an endorsement.
Rebuilding to newer building rules can cost more than the original limit allows for.
Jewelry, art and collections tend to carry low caps unless each piece is listed by name.
Before I start
A few things on hand make the review quicker and more exact. None of them are required, and I can work with whatever you have.
